Animoto from Christchurch

I tested the 'how to' sheet for making an Animoto movie. It's a great site for making a movie from all the photos you take. You can also add text and video.

Lane Clarke

It was fantastic to meet the truly inspirational Lane Clarke at the ULearn10 conference in Christchurch. I first met her at Elm Park School for a 2 day workshop and then had the privilege of listening her keynote presentation "Real Learning - It's BIGGER than Inquiry".

Digital Dossier

This You tube clip on 'Digital Dossier' is fantastic. It highlights the digital footprint we leave in our lifetime.

Posting comments

I have written a comment about a post on my class blog and I think it is waiting for moderation. How do I do this so the students can read the comment? Please help!

Fotobabble

I've been told about Fotobabble so I'm just testing it out. Hopefully a photo with a comment will appear or a link to something...not sure yet.

Blogging

Had a great lesson on blogging today. Getting my class blog up and running. Room 17 Superstars. Still very confused about all the accounts, usernames and passwords but this time I wrote them down. A lesson learned from when I first started on this ICT journey.

The class blog will be a place that the students will eventually take ownership of and be uploading their own work, reflecting on their work and that of their peers. First they will learn how to use vocaroo to record themselves reading from a book at their reading level. Using vocaroo will develop the students fluency.

ULearn10 Christchurch - presenting with colleagues - scary thought!!
Spent several hours today discussing ideas to present at a national ICT conference. What have I got to offer? What can I possibly teach other people? Everything I know has been done before and by more experienced people. Will our submission be accepted? Watch this space....

Action Research

Year 2010 brings new adventures in my e-learning. This year I will be undertaking an Action Research project incorporating e-learning tools into my classroom programme. The students will be uploading work onto their class blog. Room 17 Superstars

Things I wasn't aware of when starting a blog -
- ANOTHER password!!!!
- that my class needed their own email address!
- each student needs to know how to 'log in'
- there also wasn't a 'dashboard' on the class blog.....I thought they only came in cars!

Eventually I'll get my head around all of this.

ICT LT Cluster Day

The best thing about today was the morning tea. Gotta love Belinda's homemade afghan's and the vegetarian fillo pockets. Oh and the lunch was delicious too....thanks.

After much deliberation I have created a blog for the students of Room 17. I will be working with my students and uploading evidence of them using a range of ICT tools in their Literacy Programme. We have been using Keynote with hyperlinks to different pages and when this is finished I will share the process on my blog. So....watch this space!

Room 17 Superstars

I've had the privilege of using a 'Flip Video'. It's so easy to film the students and then with one press of a button a USB pops out of the side and you can plug it into your laptop and iphoto automatically opens and you can download the video footage. Just brilliant and so easy. If your lucky enough to have a Flip Video in French you can easily change it to English by pressing the red record button while the icon is visible on the screen when you first turn it on. Then you can change the FRENCH to ENGLISH.

Inserting Tables & Editing Cells

An extremely busy start to the year. Having 2 years experience working with students to upload tables/graphs and edit the cells and change the colour, has enabled me to assist staff and students to upload these to their e-portfolios. I'd like to think that some teachers have been pleased that their students have had this experience last year and that the road to success has been a little smoother. The best teacher can sometimes be the student themselves.

This student is well on their way to achieving their goal. Each week the student will edit this table and enter the result from their spelling test. Evidence of achievement is easily identified.

mmm.....can I remember how to do this?

Welcome to my blog for 2010!
